Kerr dropping to his knees. Kerr reached into the briefcase and grabbed the needle holding the Gift.

He licked his lips.

He placed the med-box against the side of the syringe and pressed the “LOAD” button on the small screen. He saw the green liquid begin to bubble inside the glass.

The med-box was exciting and separating the glass of the syringe. The liquid was becoming a vapor. After a moment, the syringe was empty and the med-box flashed a “PAYLOAD SECURE” message.

Kerr smiled. It was the first time he had held a complete preparation. He and his team had helped get it ready, but he had never loaded it for a living patient.

He stared at the box, hesitating for a moment.

The Gift was a complex mixture. It contained hallucinogenic drugs, growth hormones, stem cells, and medical nanomachines. It was a cocktail of high technology. It caused rapid and explosive mental development in a mind. As a side-effect, it caused rapid and explosive development in a body.

How strong were the nanomachines and stem cells? Could they save a life?

Kerr blinked at the med-box. This was it. No going back now.

A smile creased his face.

Kerr pressed the med-box against the man’s neck and touched the “DEPLOY” button. There was a small hiss. Kerr waited.

He watched the progress bar on the screen as it filled and then blinked a confirmation of completion.

OK. READY.

He took a deep breath.

“Now, we wait.”
